Created for a cartography class assignment, the goal of this map was to show the walking route from the Ayres Hotel in Redlands, CA to Esri’s headquarters building (aka Building Q). The learning objective of this map was to learn how to use and appreciate visual variables. We could only use squares in any size, value, and orientation. Color was restricted to black, white, and one other color of our choice. Texture was limited to either solid fill or no fill at all. Text was limited to the title, the north arrow, labels for landmarks, and specific instructions the user of the map would need at a given location. The entire had to be drawn in ArcMap layout view. No data could be used, only graphics.
