Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are a powerful tool for capturing and creating valuable datasets. If you’re working with a small area, we can use drone mapping surveying to effectively answer a wide range of questions to compliment your existing surveying workflows.
Data Collection
The drones we use are equipped with professional cameras capable of capturing high resolution imagery and three dimensional data points. We ensure geographic data integrity by simultaneously collecting high-accuracy ground control points.
Spatial Analysis
We use photogrammetry software to generate several types of geographic information products. Below are a few example outputs from a five acre area flown around a pond at the Town of Snowflake Golf Course.
Imagery
The use of a drone allows for the curation of high resolution imagery. Each pixel in the image below represents approximately 0.5 inch on the ground. Without a professional drone, obtaining imagery at this resolution can be prohibitively expensive, especially for rural communities.
Contours
The three dimensional points captured during a drone survey can be used to create high resolution contours of the area affordably. Below are 2 foot contours generated from 3D points that include natural and built features.
Measurements
Photogrammetry & GIS software were used to compute the area and volume of the pond. With this information, the golf course was able to purchase an accurate amount of material to fix a leak without draining it.
