Field Measures is a New Mexico company that develops productivity apps for field scientists. We were hired by Field Measures to build a web-based data portal to accompany the Fuels Measure mobile app — a mobile app designed to streamline the collection of data used to quantify forest fire potential for an area of interest.

The Fuels Measure Data portal allows its visitors to visualize data collected, search for a particular record, and visualize a breakdown of the fuel loading potential calculations upon selection of a data collection point from the map.
Due to server-side constraints, the data portal needed to be designed to perform all fuel load calculations on the front end and display results to the end user. To achieve this, we collaborated with the company’s chief ecologist to develop JavaScript algorithms for the fuel loading calculations.
